Summer Term at St.Clare's - Enid Blyton

Premium Review Is True Prue In Trouble Too? (513 words)
by keeperofthematri - written on 07/07/09 (Very useful, 34 readings)
Rating:

There's a bad start to the Summer term at St. Clare's when the twins arrange to make up a foursome at tennis during the holidays. One of the other girls comes down with mumps so the twins are put in quarantine & end up missing the start of the term. There are five new girls in the first form when the twins finally arrive at school. There's American heiress Sadie Greene who the twins cousin Alison has made friends with. This marks the beginning of Alison thinking people are wonderful & "losing her heart" to them in the books. She gets into the habit of saying "well Sadie says...." which the first form take up & chant back at her in chorus at ...

The Island of Adventure - Enid Blyton

Premium Review Another underground cave! (844 words)
by blackviolets - written on 16/07/09 (Very useful, 33 readings)
Rating:

Aside from my Roald Dahl collection Enid Blyton is the next author who features a lot from my childhood reading. *Warning! Sentimental rubbish approaching!* Every Wednesday after school our Mum would take me and my siblings down to the library. Only being a 5 minute walk from the shops, she would drop us off before quickly nipping off to get the essentials. Oddly enough it was only me who enjoyed these little trips, the others more interested in playing with the soft toys. Shameful! Two books each week, one being a Roald Dahl and the other Enid Blyton. Over the years I have built up a growing box of her books which I can still read and enjoy even though I pretty ...

The Fairies' Shoemaker - Enid Blyton

Premium Review Old-fashioned but still brilliant for today's children. (614 words)
by leighsady - written on 18/07/09 (Very useful, 97 readings)
Rating:

The Fairies Shoemaker & Other Stories by Enid Blyton. What is it? A book collection of children s stories written by Enid Blyton. Special Features? Contains 14 short fantasy fairytale stories, many with an educational moral to them. I think this is a delightful book and actually bought this for myself when I was a kid, yes! I used to love reading at school and I came across a lot of Enid Blyton books (though I did not take any notice of the author at the time!). It was only when I was talking about our favourite books as kids, my friend ( who was even more of a bookworm, she actually introduced me to a lot of famous literary works when we were kids which I ...
