The Road to Gandolfo - Robert Ludlum

Premium Review Below par effort from the master of spy thrillers (290 words)
by pmcds - written on 04/08/08 (Very useful, 42 readings)
Rating:

associate with Ludlum, but it is also so absurd in tale that I actually found it very hard to read. The plot follows Sam as he tracks down Hawk, going form ex-wife to ex-wife, who in turn flirts with him and seduces him, before he confronts Jawk himself. I won t spoil the ending for you, but it s not the most imaginative of Ludlum s novels, and certainly not the most entertaining. There is a foreword note by the author in the book, explaining the reasons for such a change from the norm, and that he had immense fun writing the book, and that his publishers were surprised he actually wanted to publish the book under his own name. I m surprised, too. I was disappointed to ...

The Chancellor Manuscript - Robert Ludlum

Premium Review What if it were true............ (296 words)
by pmcds - written on 07/08/08 (Very useful, 24 readings)
Rating:

As far as conspiracy theories go, Robert Ludlum s thrillers have had their fair share. Most are unbelievable to the extent they don t warrant a second thought. However, in The Chancellor Manuscript, the award winning author gives us a twisting tale that you wouldn t be surprised to find has elements of truth in it. The Plot Author Peter Chancellor is very well known. His thrillers are best selling and now he has written a thriller that is too close to the mark, and it involves the death of J Edgar Hoover, the legendary FBI leader. Chancellor writes of a conspiracy to kill him just as the organisation known as Inver Brass decide that Hoover s secret files are too ...

The Rhinemann Exchange - Robert Ludlum

Premium Review Ludlum makes us wait then hits us with a belter! (573 words)
by pmcds - written on 05/09/08 (Very useful, 43 readings)
Rating:

Robert Ludlum has written a number of exceptional spy thrillers. Some may say that he is the best author of them. Upon his death in 2001, he left behind a number of nearly finished manuscripts and even more plot outlines for books, which continue to be written by a ghost writer to this day and published in Ludlum's name. The other thing the author has the ability to do is create amazingly complex and paranoid plots, such as the one in The Rhinemann Exchange. Written in 1974 at the heart of the Cold War, Ludlum's plot focuses on the exchange of diamonds and gyroscopic designs between the Allies and the Nazis in 1943. Sent to oversee the operation is David Spaulding, the Allies' ...
