The Famous Five: Five Fall into Adventure - Enid Blyton
by pmcds - written on 07/07/08 (Useful, 38 readings)
Rating:
to find George and Timmy, and the search takes them to a remote cove and something or someone called Red Tower. The plot is a well worked one from Blyton, and it involves a bit of change in comparison to her previous Famous Five novels. The disappearance of George and Timmy means more concentration on the three siblings of the group. The inclusion of ragamuffin girl Jo fills the George role of a grumpy girl who wishes she was a boy, and things seem even more weird in the text as Anne is left out of some of it. The villains seem a little more dangerous than in previous books, and perhaps this is an indication of the fact that, as the children age, they are more likely ...

Rating:

Five Are Together Again is the last of the original books written by Enid Blyton, and it features the Five camping ocne more, this time near the house of a famous scientist. There is a travelling fair.circus nearby, and the Five make friends with them as well as getting a surprise addition to the tale in the form of their friend Tinker (from book no.19) and his monkey Mischief. Then, important papers are stolen from the scientist s secret impenetrable tower, and the Five are duty-bound to find out who dunnit! The Faraway Tree - Enid Blyton Jo Bessie and Fanny lived close to a forest, but this was not ordinary forest. Only the three children knew that it was an enchanted forest. They have had many adventures here, and it all starts with the faraway tree, a magical tree. In each branch lives a magical creature, such as the Angry Pixie, who very much lives up to his name. The next branch up, is home to a fairy called Silky, who loves to bake pop biscuits and toffee shocks. Other living in the tree are Mr Watzizname, Saucepanman, Dame Washalot and Moonface.
