However, I haven't read the one and I found this okay to read, you didn't need to know any background story as it was well explained and could easily be read as a stand-alone novel, but I just wanted to make you aware of this in case you want to read its prequel first. This was another book I had bought home from my parents house when I went to stay, and as I know my mum hasn't read it yet, it had to go straight to the top of my to-be-read pile otherwise it probably wouldn't get read until 2009 (if I'm lucky!). The cover wasn't that attractive, looking quite old-fashioned and not that appealing, but it was the blurb on the back of the book which made it sound quite readable, so I delved in hoping for a good strong to spend my evenings with for the next couple of days.
