It sounds a little outlandish but as soon as I started reading the book, I just knew I was going to love it. It begins introducing us to Jane, and the various shoes she's worn through different stages of her life. Running a chick-lit blog is somewhat bad for my free time - I constantly find new books that look brilliant and consequently my "to be read" pile has gotten out of control! I am trying hard to read all the older books on my list, but some of the new ones are jumping to the top because they seem so good! Emma Bowd's debut novel looked so funny, and the fact it was just a short book caught my attention. I decided I wanted to read it, and I did so in just over a day, it was excellent! Compelling, evocative and beautifully written 
May cause sustained feelings of sorrow Good characterisation, enjoyable writing style Ending is a bit predictable but that's probably me being too picky! Dark, Gritty Chick Lit Couldn't warm to the main character A good story with many funny moments The end came about a bit abruptly, couple of editing errors Can be read as a one off thriller or as part of the Charlie Parker franchise Some of the elements maybe lost on those not familiar with Charlie Parker novels Reasonable price paid, not too long, good ending.
