The Six Sacred Stones is the second book by Matthew Reilly featuring Jack West Jr. It follows on from his previous novel - Seven Ancient Wonders. In the previous novel West, along with a trusted group of people fought to save the world from complete destruction, but now all they fought for has been destroyed as a group have managed to undo what the team had achieved. Only four of the original group from the previous book survived to make this book and they are joined by representatives from other countries, all of whom have their own agendas. First introduced to us in Matthew Reillys' Seven Ancient Wonders", the Rambo/James Bond/Indiana Jones based super- soldier Jack West returns along with the his always ready team of adventurers. But this time, they are confronted by an impossible (yawn.......) challenge. A mysterious ceremony has set off a catastrophic countdown, the climax of which being the end of all life on Earth (at least James Bonds' enemies simply want to rule the world!!). If, like me, you are a fan of Australian author Matthew Reilly, you will not be disappointed with his latest offering The Six Sacred Stones. As with all his other books, once started, I couldn't put it down. This book sees the return of Captain Jack West, adventurer, commando and owner of two master's degrees in ancient history. He and his dedicated team all first appeared in the author's previous novel "Seven Ancient Wonders" which I also enjoyed.
