Advantages: good character, great twists and an excellent plot!

Disadvantages: --

I am, and probably ever will be, a crime novel fan. Any good murder mystery/crime novel with a good plot, great twists and interesting characters I'll read it happily.

I had heard of Jeffery Deaver before, I even own a few (my favourite is Bone Collector with Lincon Rhyme) but I hadn't read his work for a while. Personally I think that the Lincon Rhyme series has gone a bit too far; but i was interested to see how Deaver dealt with a completly different character.

*Synopsis*
The Sleeping Doll introduces Kathryn Dance; an expert in kinesics (the art of interpreting behaviour in body langauge or gestures). This skill makes her a world class interrogator. However she's up against Daniel Pell, the master of mind games and control who can seduce ayone to do his bidding; whether muderous or otherwise. When he escapes from a county jail, Dance must use all the weapons in her arsenal in order to locate quicky and efficently and, most importantly, without hurting anyone. She enlists the help of four people; three women who lived with Pell in the cult he once headed and the young girl known as the sleeping doll; the only survivor of the family that was killed at Pell's hands....

*My Opinon*
The debut of Kathryn Dance is by far one of Deaver's better works. Many people have been critising this book as Dance being one dimensional and almost boring; I beg to differ. I remember reading this book on holiday in the space of around three days. I only remember that it was three days as it was one of the fastest that i had ever read a book! I just couldn't put it down. I'm not saying that The Sleeping Doll doesn't have it's faults and it's far from faultless, but I would definatley recommend this book to anyone. Deaver uses his usual twists and turns to put together a brilliant novel and I defianatley give this 5 stars!
