The Spectre of Hairy Hector is a great book for children aged between 6 and 12 written by Penny Dolan. The book tells the story of a young boy, Jack whom after being orphaned is taken into the care of his Aunt Arcady. Together they inherit a rundown mansion that was supposedly owned by Hector, who was mysteriously lost at sea. The ghostly spectre of this man is now said to haunt the mansion itself and has terrorized all the mansions former inhabitants. After hearing noises in the house both Jack and Aunt Arcady become terrified but after learning of the evil plan of the estate agent who has had control of the house for numerous years they decide ...
