Not quite as well known as her more famous contemporaries, Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, Margery Allingham is nevertheless well respected in crime fiction circles as the creator of Albert Campion. Campion has been made into a TV series in recent years starring Peter Davison. Having written her first novel featuring Campion in 1928, she became well-known for her portrayals of society and post-war youth. The plot Meg Elginbrodde has just become engaged to Geoffrey when she suddenly starts to receive photographs of her supposedly dead husband, Martin Elginbrodde, looking very much alive.
