Not one for your must read list

This book is the second book in a series by Andy McDermott starring Dr Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase.

Nina, is a marine archaeologist and Eddie is her bodyguard / boyfriend, an former SAS soldier. Nina has been appointed as a director of the IHA which deals with underwater excavations.

The story starts on board an underwater research station which is destroyed and all those aboard are killed by a group of unknown men and made to look like it had occurred as the result of a bad storm.

The story then continues as Nina is given permission to read the original copy of a manuscript by Plato which she believes will hold the clues she needs to discover where the tomb of Hercules is located. As she is studying this she is attacked and barely escapes with her life.

At the same time Eddie is almost killed whilst on a seperate mission in China for the IHA.

The story continues as they search for the Tomb of Hercules and race to discover it before a group who have their own plans for the contents of the tomb find it first.

This is a truly international story, from USA to China and Africa!

I loved the idea of this book, however the actual plot was one of the most random that I have recently read. I felt as though the author had tried to include too many different ideas and the result was that it just felt really random! I thought many of the plot ideas were unoriginal and in places you knew what was going to happen next.

I've read quite a few books with this kind of plot and I think this is the poorest one that I have read. I haven't read the first book in the series and I don't really want to having read this one.
