Advantages: Fabulous illustrations
Disadvantages: Not easily available on Amazon
Ah parents... can't live with 'em can't live without... of course everyone elses' Mum seems cooler and better than your own, especially when you're small, Mums can be embarrasing, that's the trouble wiith Mum...
The unnamed little boy who narrates this lovely, fun children's book has a problem, his Mum's a bit strange, she dresses oddly and people seem a little scared of her, his Mum's a witch.
The illustrations are a joy, painstakingly painted, full of imagination and minute detail that will get children laughing. The boy's Mum is a witch and while the children in the neighbourhood love her and her wacky ways, their parents don't, that is until she saves the day...
The text is clear and against a light coloured page, there is so much to point out in the drawings, the story could be used to illustrate not judging a book by its cover (or a witch by her mistakes!)
One in a series by the prolific Cole, a well loved author and illustrator. There's also trouble with Dad, Gran and with Grandad. Not available new on Amazon but Cole's books are widely available.
