Advantages: Great story, great characters a real pleasurable read.
Disadvantages: No follow up story to get my teeth into!
At the moment I am finishing one book and going straight onto another, after finishing the shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella I decided to move onto the Undomestic Goddess.
The undomestic goddess is about a high flying lawyer called Samantha Sweeting who works and lives for her employer, Carter Spink, she is hardworking and extremely reliable and all she has ever dreamed about is becoming a partner in the company.
Samantha has inherited the high adrenalin lifestyle from her mother who is also a lawyer and knows no different until just when she is on the brink of becoming a partner in Carter Spink she discovers a massive mistake she has made which results in losing her employer millions of pounds, desperate to escape from this mistake she finds herself walking out of the office and out on the company.
Samantha finds herself in a quaint village and walks straight into an interview for a housekeepers position and finds herself accepted for the position to her suprise, desperate to escape from her current life she finds herself adapting to the role but will Samantha's past catch up with her or will she be able to take on a new role and a new lifestyle..................read the book to find out!
~*~Characters~*~
Samantha Sweeting
A high powered lawyer and the main character of the book, her life is dominated by her emplyer Carter Spink and with her aspiration to become a partner her personal life simply does not exist.
Trish Geiger
The owener of a beautiful house in the Cotswolds, Trish is impressed with Samantha and quickly becomes a confident to Samantha.
Eddie Geiger
Trish's husband, a laid back guy who is happy to let Trish control the decisions he just flashes his cheque book at her and she is happy.
Nathaniel
The Geigers Gardener who has a few secrets himself and when he discovers little bits about Samantha's past the two get on brilliantly and Samantha finds herself pushing Nathaniel to follow his dreams.
Iris
Iris is Nathaniel's mother and quite and a focal part of the story as it is Iris that can relate to Samantha and acts as the mother figure that Samantha has never really experience one of home cooked foods and having compassion.
I really enjoyed reading this book, I always seem to enjoy the way that Sophie writes in such a modern way that I find easy to relate too.
The characters are written in such a way that you can relate to their feelings and really become involved in the story and find it hard to put the book down.
I actually prefer Sophie's individual stories to the Shopaholic Series as I really lost myself in this book and would love for there to be a follow up but I dout there will.
A funny, lovable story that will ensure you lose yourself in the story.
I got my copy from www.readitswapit.com but it is for sale in Tesco 2 for £7
Summary: One of Kinsella's best!
