Aliens Love Underpants - Claire Freedman

Rating:
Aliens Love Underpants is a strange one. I bought it a month or so back for my 5 year old niece and everyone loves it, including my own 12 month old granddaughter who giggles at the pictures and likes the rhythm of the poems. The story is basically that there are no underpants in space and because aliens have such a fascination with this garment they travel all the way to earth just to play with and steal our pants! What makes Aliens Love Underpants so interesting though is the fact that this book is written in a lovely rhyming way that instantly captured my nieces attention and I eventually caught my nine year old granddaughter flicking through it and saying the rhymes aloud - ...

patterns. After a few false starts he amazed me by getting 90% correct. Learning is so important from an early age and anything that makes this fun gets my vote every time. The book is produced by Simon & Schuster Books, with words by Claire Freedman and illustrations by Ben Cort. It s available on Amazon in hardback at £8.24 new and £2.89 in paperback. Personally I think the hardback is worth paying a bit extra for as I am sure this will become a firm favourite for many years. Highly Recommended, it gets the full five stars from me. I have always thought that stories should play a major part in a child's upbringing and, thankfully, my son really enjoys books but he's not yet at the stage where he'll sit still enough for a long, engrossing tale. As a result, the books that are the biggest hits are those which are either interactive or short with good illustrations. Finding short books that are engaging has proved remarkably hard and I really struggled to find a good "going to bed" book to help my son understand about going to sleep and winding down for the night. Thank goodness for "A Kiss Goodnight". "A Kiss Goodnight" is less of a story book and more of a collection of ...
