This was brilliant, and it's thanks to a friend I read it. I'm so pleased she recommended this novella (I think that's what it'll be classed as) otherwise I may not have stumbled across it on my own. It's chilling and actually quite scary as we've all undoubtedly stood at some point looking at artifacts or antiques wondering about the lives of the people who owned them - this is a chance to find out. The story is superb. Melanie is from the 1950s, has a loving husband Guy and a small baby; she's recovering from TB and has decided to get out of bed and move to a different room for a change of scenery.
