But will they save it in time, and if they do, how high a price must be paid? This is the fifth novel in the series by Rebecca Shaw. All the books are set in Turnham Malpas, with new characters arriving, old ones leaving and the usual smattering of births, marriages and deaths. After reading the previous four novels, Village Secrets is like returning to visit old friends. are not prepared to let a similar thing happen again. The Village Show is the fourth in the series of the Turnham Malpas books by Rebecca Shaw, although they can each be read as stand-alone novels. This one seemed slightly different to the previous three – no murders, no kidnaps, only a whiff of a car crash and much less sudden drama. (It's also the first of these books I have read where 'token child' Flick Charter-Plackett remains unscathed throughout!!) The novel still manages to be as interesting as usual, following the same pattern of readability as the previous ones. It begins fairly slowly, but I read the last hundred pages in one go, being ...

A readable love story with a twist, sprinkled with Murakami's ace signature trademark elements - plus good translation A little bit formulaic and grey, and ends abruptly. Not a new love venture for Murakami at all, and it's not one of his best works overall
