Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz
by grannygarden - written on 19/10/05 (Very useful, 1193 readings)
Rating:
For those of you who have never read any Dean Koontz books, allow me to try and introduce him. He is a prolific writer of horror type books, along the lines of Stephen King. According to his blurb on the cover of the book, he was born and raised in Pennsylvania and is the author of eight hardback and eleven paperback New York Times number 1 bestsellers and lives with his wife Gerda (Gerda??, strange) in Southern California. Unlike Stephen King, he doesn t spent much time in character building with endless chapters slowly introducing his reader to them. He throws you straight in at the deep end and you ve met all the main men/women within the first few pages. The story ...

Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz

Rating:
Dean Koontz is a prolific writer. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he has managed to score New York Times best sellers with 8 hardbacks and 11 paperbacks in a writing career that spans 5 decades. Odd Thomas was published earlier this year and represents a Christmas gift based on my love of the horror/fantasy genre. “My name is Odd Thomas, though in this day and age when fame is at the altar at which most people worship, I am not sure why you should care who I am or that I exist.” Those opening words of chapter 1 set the tone for the introspective 20-year-old to tell a strange tale in the first person to his metaphorical audience that amounts to you and I. Set in Pico Mundo, ...

Twilight Eyes - Dean Koontz
by carolinemu - written on 09/10/03 (Useful, 108 readings)
Rating:
I just finishing reading this book and I have to say it isn?t one of my favourite of Dean Koontz books, but it?s still a good book, a little slow It just isn?t as fast paced as his other books. It is a weird book. It tells the story of a man, Slim Mackenzie who has the ability to see what he calls ?goblins?, creatures hiding under human appearance. Slim having this special talent can see through this human façade. The goblins only function in life is to kill humans and so Slim, kills these goblins whenever he can. Slim Mackenzie is both hunter and hunted after killing his Uncle, who turned out to be one of these goblins, he is on the run from the police., so ...
