The third book to take place in C. S. Lewis’ mythical realm of Narnia takes readers on a highly enjoyable fantastical seafaring romp to the end of the world. The final book to feature the Pevensie children from ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,’ this book introduces their initially-irritable replacement in Eustace Scrubb, and sees the return of King Caspian and the courageous mouse Reepicheep from the previous book. After the forest battles of the previous two Narnia books, ‘The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ provides some excellent relief, and was always my personal favourite of the seven. Beginning fairly abruptly with a brief introduction for Eustace, the ... Read the complete review

This is the 5th book of a series of 7 writtten by the great C.S Lewis. They were written by Lewis as a way of exploring religion in a form that would appeal to children. That said the religious aspect of these books is not heavy nor offensive to those of differeing views and I think they can be read without having to delve into the religious aspect, just as a jolly good childrens story, that will continue to appeal for the rest of your life. The Dawn Treader features Edmund and Lucy (as Peter and Susan are now too old to visit Narnia) and bring a new character in, Eustace, their obnoxious cousin. They are pulled into Narnia via a picture in their bedroom at ... Read the complete review

Rating:
The 5th book of the Narnia saga by C.S.Lewis is The Voyage of the Dawntreader, and it features some new additions to our main lead characters, the Pevensie children. From the first book in the series, The Magician's Nephew, Lewis has created the land of Narnia and given us some juicy adventures to read, and he continues it here. First of all, it is important to realise that time in Narnia goes faster than in our world, and as such people age and years go past faster and quicker than us. As a result, when Lucy and Edmund Pevensie are transported back to the magical land of Narnia, where they last adventured in helping Prince Caspian rescue the land from Civil ... Rating:
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is (according to C.S.Lewis' recommended reading order) the fifth book in the Chronicles of Narnia series. (The sequence goes 1- The Magician's Nephew, 2-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, 3-The Horse and his Boy, 4-Prince Caspian.) It features Edmund and Lucy from the 2nd and 4th books in that sequence, along with a new child from our earth. The opening line of this book, which introduces the new character, is wonderful: "There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it." All of the books in the Narnia series have a moral message, and usually involve at least one of the children having to learn an ... Read the complete review
