... there are holes in each page so you see what is on the page behind. This adds to the fun I suppose. The text itself is simple but fun, telling the tale of different groups of people on a bus who make lots of different noises. Most kids will know the song but not have a book to go along with it, and this adds the nice element of putting pictures to the words we know so well. The text is simple and repetitive, making it ideal for young learners to expand their vocabulary and learn the words it contains. As well as the ...more

Premium Review The Wheels on the Bus: Go Round and Round: All through the town (255 words)

All kids seem to love this rhyme, and this book cashes in on that. The one we have is a board book, and basically it tells the story each page through using nice colourful pics. What I love about this book is the way it is also translated in Bengali on each page, which makes it a conversation starter as well as oddly educational. The pics are bright and colourful, and there are holes in each page so you see what is on the page behind. This adds to the fun I suppose. The text itself is simple but fun, telling the tale of different groups of people on a bus who make lots of different noises. This book is based on the popular song 'The wheels on the bus' and it's written by Annie Kubler. It's written in both English and Bengali and each page has a piece missing so you can see through to the next page. The book is extremely vibrant and the characters are cute and happy and have a friendly look about them. There is a lot of detail on each page and you could go on for a while discussing the people. There are a lot of mixed race people sat on the bus and it's plain to see that it's very multi-cultural. This book was very nice to sing and I would recommend singing it as it sounds rubbish when you just read it off the page. The boys knew the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Wheels on the Bus: Go Round and Round: bright, quirky twist on an old favourite (237 words)
by - written on 16/07/09 (Useful, 13 readings)
Rating:

The pages of this book are significantly worn yet it has never torn, amazing considering the number of times it has been read. What I love most about this book is the detailed pictures tell an additional story to the song we all know and love. The bus is transporting a whole selection of people to a birthday party so a lot of time can be spent talking about who they are, what they will do at the party, who's party is it and so on. The pictures are brightly coloured and very engaging for young children but as parents or teachers, you will spot something new each time you read it. Each page has a 'hole' somewhere which reveals another part of the picture, for ...  Read the complete review
