More of the same from the master (Thief of Time - Terry Pratchett)

This book is possibly the most complex Terry has ever written, and therefore not one for newcomers to the Discworld series. It is, needless to say absolutely brilliant. I won't give away the plot but scattered throughout the book are cultural reference to Kung-Fu & Bond films, the kind of Jeeves/Wooster relationship between Lu-Tze and Lobsang,(ie. who is REALLY the master), "Reservoir Dogs" (absolutely hilarious when the auditors begin to run out of colour names. Miss Taupe, anyone?) and of course The Beatles (in Ronnie, the Fifth Horseman who left before they became famous but isn't bitter. Oh no.) It also shows how chocolate can be used as an anti-personnel weapon(!)and elaborates on the road to Elightenment as taught by Mrs. Cosmopolite and embraced by Lu-Tze. Summary: |
