Monty the Dump Truck shouted to Alfie to watch out which made Alfie sad as he knew he was small but he did not like being teased about it.
Alfie was sent to work with Ned but Ned nearly hit him when he swung his bucket as he didn't see Alfie and said that he was smaller than he looked, this made Alfie feel even more sad. Alfie began to work hard but the rest of the pack were still being mean to him.

Alfie is a green excavator in who features in the My Thomas Story Library. He is book number 49. The cover of the book has a picture of Alfie and an orange banner above with the title in green lettering. The back cover has small pictures showing the other books available in the collection. THE STORY The first page in the book is where the Fat Controller introduces us to Alfie, he tells us that he is an excavator. Other trains and vehicles on the island teased Alfie for being small.
