Thomas the Tank Engine - Find That Freight.......

Jack is Thomas merchandise mad although he is not too keen on the programme itself, which I find rather strange. Luckily enough we have lots of people that often buy Jack little gifts and this book was one of those said gifts.

Now because this was a gift I am not sure how much exactly it cost but I have looked on Amazon and it is being sold for around the £10 mark. This does seem somewhat expensive for a children's book but you really are getting a good book for that money.

The book itself is a board book, meaning that the pages are all cardboard type tough material and perfect for young children to both hold and read without destroying it! It has eight pages in total and on each page there are lift the flap sections where pictures are hidden underneath other pictures. These are made of less tough cardboard however and are prone to being bent and folded. In total there are 10 different lift up flaps each showing a picture that corresponds to the buttons at the side.

Down the right hand side of the book, there is a large plastic section that holds all of the buttons with pictures on and there are 10 buttons in all. The pictures on the buttons match the pictures that are underneath the flaps inside the book and also scattered in between words throughout the book. The buttons are easy to press even for small fingers like Jack.

The story is very simple and tells of how Thomas along with Rosie and Billy head to the docks to find their haul for the day only the freights that they are meant to pick up are now where to be seen. Thomas and his friends try to get others to help them to find their freights but everyone is busy. The trains decide to spilt up in order to find their haul quicker but eventually Cranky the crane helps Thomas out by using his vast height to look over the platforms. He finds the boxes Thomas was looking for with easy and Thomas gets Rosie and billy together and eventually they are able to get on with their days work.

As I said the story is simple but very easy to follow. Jack loves pushing the buttons and lifting the flaps and at the moment this is the one book that is dragged out of the cupboard day after day. The noises that the buttons make are pretty good to. There is a fish picture that gives a brilliant "splash" sound and a seagull picture that has a fairly lifelike squawk.

The book on the whole is a very good one. The pictures are clear and coloured brightly so very appealing to younger children. The book is aimed at children of pre-school age but I do think this will last for many years and hopefully will stay a firm favourite of Jacks. I certainly think what ever money was paid for it that by now we certainly had our monies worth from it.

I think it is a brilliant book that is well worth a five star rating and a high recommendation. I think it would make a perfect gift for any little boy (or girl) who likes trains or especially Thomas.

I do hop this has been of some help/interest to you.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Summary: a great book to keep anyones interest
