This isn't one of the original Thomas stories by the Rev. W. Awdry, but is based on the characters which he created. 'Thomas and the Jet Engine' is a very sturdy hardbook book which measures 15.8 x 15.4 x 1.6 cm. The cover is bright blue with a picture of Gordon looking disapprovingly down at Thomas on the front. Each page of the book has a small amount of writing and a bright colour picture taken from the television series. The pictures really seem to keep children interested in the story.
