It appears that this has happened due to commercial pressures ? such as the desire to have a beautiful nursery and also pressure form health professionals. Deborah looks at studies that show that there are many benefits to the c...more

Book Review of Three in A Bed by Deborah Jackson ISBN: 0 ? 7475 ? 4295 ? 3 How it changed my Perception of Co-Sleeping I chose to read this particular book after meeting Deborah Jackson at the 2002 Practical Parenting Baby Show at Olympia. It was a topic I felt I needed to find out more about for my Post Natal course, as it was an option that whilst I was pregnant and even after having my baby I would not consider. I want to be able to be objective on this topic. I am one of those people that hates to share my personal space, and so felt that co-sleeping would never work for me. This is such a good book to read whilst you are pregnant. It discusses one woman's experience of having her family all share the same bed and the benefits of it. I read this book when I was pregnant as I intended to have my baby share the same bed as me. Deboarah Jackson, the author, tells of her experiences and research. Comments like you will suffocate it, you will never get it out of your bed and generally interferance. The reason we came to this decision was to ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

Well, as my title suggests I was very impressed by this book. I read it about a month ago when my daughter was about 14 months. I wish that I had read this book when we had first had her and then I wouldnt have felt so guilty and and put upon when people tut tutted when I told them that Angel slept in the bed with us and metered out there own unhelpfull advice. The book has almost all you need to know about bed sharing with a baby, practical advice on do's and dont's (eg dont bed share if you or your partner smokes) the benifits of bed sharing to breastfeeding mothers, bedsharing in other cultures and also expands some of the common myths about bed sharing ...  Read the complete review
