... and I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for most people, but it may be for some. 'Tickle, Tickle' is a board book which means it's quite thick and should be quite durable, however it is made of a very 'chewable' material and might not last very long if a baby gets it in their mouth! The book itself is quite large which means it has big pictures, big words and the pages are easy for little fingers to turn. The book isn't very long and only consists of 8 pages. It is written by Helen Oxenbury. The front cover is...more

Premium Review Tickle, Tickle - Helen Oxenbury: This book should tickle your little ones fancy (512 words)

Rating:

'Tickle, Tickle' is a book I'm sure many of you will be aware of. We were given the book as a freebie in our daughters Book Start pack at her 9 month check up with the health visitor, along with a book called 'This Little Baby'. For those who aren't familiar with Book Start - it is a scheme which aims to get children into books and reading at a young age. And a great idea it is too as books encourage many valuble learning skills. To top it off, the whole thing is free so nobody has an excuse! There are 3 other books in the series which are called 'All Fall Down', 'Say Goodnight' and 'Clap Hands'. The book was first published in 1987 which ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tickle Tickle - a fantastic book for babies (489 words)
by - written on 25/01/09 (Very useful, 106 readings)
Rating:

Tickle Tickle is an 8 page board book by the writer and illustrator Helen Oxenbury. It is currently distributed as part of the Book Start scheme, where children are given books at the age of 6 months by their health visitor. I have seen others in the series sold in supermarkets, and I note from the Walker Books website that they are planning to publish a new version of Tickle Tickle for £3.99. Reading to babies is not only a way of familiarising them with books and words, but has been shown to comfort babies as their mother's voices become less stressed when they are reading simple books. Mother's voices? Stressed? What can they ...  Read the complete review

by - written on 12/02/05 (Very useful, 280 readings)
Rating:

This is a review of Tickle, Tickle by Helen Oxenbury. One of a series of four board books aimed at babies and toddlers, this is a very short basic book, hence the shorter review. ****Description**** This is a board book published by Walker Books. It measures 22 cm x 22 cm and the pages are of a medium thickness. The front page has a picture of two babies tickling each other with a blue background and has a total of 8 pages. ****Story**** There really is not much of a story with this book, its one of those awkward ones that you have to make everything up! There are three babies (these same babies appear in each of the four ...  Read the complete review
