When asked the other day to recall my favourite picture books as a child, The Tiger Who Came to Tea was in the list. I’m not sure why it stood out in my mind so much, but I chose to buy it and read it to my nephew as often as possible. As the title suggests, for some reason a Tiger comes to tea and then proceeds to eat everything in the house before drinking all the water in the tap! Kerr has managed to pick upon a child’s favourite subject –food- and combined it with a silly but enchanting tale. Many people will remember this book from their childhood and I recommend it to parents ...

dug out my old copy of The Tiger Who Came to Tea recently to see if it still appealed to the children of today and quite amazingly it did...........I say amazingly as I am proud to announce that this book was first published in 1968 so it's even older than me!! ~ The Story ~ Apologies if I spoil the plot but here goes: A little girl, Sophie sits down for tea with her Mummy when there's a knock at the door.
