The Tiger Who Came to Tea written by Judith Kerr

This is a delightful little story. I bought this book from Waterstones on a buy one get one free promotion.
It has a RRP of £7.99 for the book and CD. It is selling on Amazon for £4.79 new and £3.28 used, or £3.89
new without the CD.

**** The Story ****

An unlikely yet amusing tale. Sophie and her mum sit down for tea, then there is a knock at the door.
Sophie opens it to find a tiger requesting to have tea with them. Of course they invite him in but before they know it
the tiger has eaten all of the tea. He then starts eating all the food in the pantry, all the food in the fridge, dads supper,
and all dads beer and finally even all the water in the taps. The tiger then leaves and Sophie and her mum find out there is no water for
Sophie to have her bath and absolutely no food in the house for poor dad on his way home from work.
Dad comes home and they go for tea at a cafe. In the morning they then go shopping and replace all their food as well as buying an extra big
tin of tiger food.

**** Layout *****

Cheerful illustrations with simple text. The bonus of the CD from my point of view, is to encourage my son to read independantly. The book
is paperback but can also be purchased as a board book. The book is obviously aimed at younger children.

****My Opinion ****

A cheerful little tale but perhaps a little out dated. My son enjoyed it though. I would say it is probably one to get from the
library instead of buying.

Summary: Borrow it

I think this is a classic. I'm 25 and still have fond memories of this one from 20 years ago!
