The Conspiracy Club - Jonathan Kellerman
by freediveheaven - written on 25/11/05 (Very useful, 126 readings)
Rating:
Jonathan Kellerman has made his name for writing truly gripping psychological mystery thrillers with a series of novels featuring the characters Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis. Delaware the psychologist-detective and his policeman friend Sturgis investigate and solve, often-gruesome murders set against a backdrop of metropolitan Los Angeles. In his work Kellerman uses his experience as a child psychologist For this particular novel Kellerman has taken a bit of a busman’s holiday of sorts. In the past he has done this with one novel set in Jerusalem and a couple featuring Petra Connor a Los Angeles police officer. Both of these were good pieces of work in their own right however, ...

As some of you may have already noticed I am a big fan of Jonathan Kellerman psychological thrillers and therefore I felt obliged to review the latest, number 18, in his series of books starring Alex Delaware Therapy . A little bit of background For those of you who have not come across the Alex Delaware novels before I will give a brief history, as I have said above this is the 18th book in the series which began in the mid eighties with When the Bough Breaks and has continued at the pace of one a year since then. When we first met Delaware he was in his mid 30 s having retired from is career as a child psychologist which now makes him by my reckoning in his ...

deaths? If so, what is it? And will Petra and her colleagues be able to solve the case of the drive-by shooting? Although I’ve heard a great deal about Jonathan Kellerman’s work, this is the first of his books that I have read. I generally stay clear of hard-core American detective novels – I find them full of cynical detectives who are so tough that they make the book uncomfortable reading. I’m glad I made an exception in this case; this was a real page-turner. As a character, Petra does fit into the usual ‘been there seen it all’ detective mould. In fact, she is even stronger than many female detectives are portrayed because she generally seems to work on her own. ...
