Advantages: funny, easy to read
Disadvantages: some bad language that may offend
I bought this book a few years ago when my holiday flight was cancelled. I was a great impulse buy as I didn't put it down until I had read it from cover to cover - did I mention it was a 5 hour delay?!?!?! I like David Baddiel's comedy work but didn't know how it would translate into book form. Why was I worried this book is excellent. It is, as the title to this op says, laugh out loud funny. I certainly got some funny looks at the airport when I cracked up at one of the funnier moments. This is the story of a young man who suffers insomnia who falls for his brothers wife and how he goes about his life, finding romance and visiting his rather eccentric family. For anyone who has ever suffered insomnia Baddiel knows exactly what it is like explaining how bad it is whilst laughing at it as well. The story is very down to earth and it relies on this to make you see the humour in common situations such as having a row when the AA man is fixing your car. I think everyone will relate to the story but the strong language used may put some people off.
