Advantages: Time traveltastic
Disadvantages: Suids?
I read the odd SCI-FI from the library and this is probably the best for a long time that I felt I could comprehend and was believable. Some of the fantasy book stuff looks plain daft. Its 2009 .Reid Malefant is an aging Astronaght working outside of NASA on his own project to convert old shuttle booster rockets and main fuel tanks into deep space mineral storage facilities. Money is tight and he’s reliant on old space buddies to keep the business adventure going. A man in a sharp suit arrives with a far more startling prophecy for space jock Reid and his friends to mull over. And if he doesn’t take up the challenge that Cornielius Harris has put to him the whole future of the world could be at stake. After a demonstration with a box full of marbles hypothesizing the eventual end of the world through population crash. Reid agrees to look into the grim omen of mankind’s fate. Else where other strange things are happening in the appearance of hyper intelligent children able to do things way beyond their years. The kids are quickly rounded up and separated from society to reap their full potential and work out why they are hear, now. The mystery thickens as Cornelius takes Reid and his ex wife Emma Stony who is a big wig in the space biz to an underground facility where a “message”has been decoded by bombarding Quarks with the tiniest particles known to man called Pions that create a reaction that generates backward time ripples which seems to be receiving a signal back in time. The message doesn’t tell of the detruction of the Earth, but coordinates in space,.It turns out to be Curithene a near Earth orbiting asteroid that’s way out in deep space heading away from the blue planet. That’s where Reid Malefant and his spacecraft comes into Cornelius plan as he can’t get NASA onside because of the politics and money. But Reid hasn’t much time to put together a craft from the old boos
ters from the Shuttle programme on the desert launch pads. The special children are now being narrowed down to just a small group of perfect children who have barricaded themselves into a facility and produced something very strange in deed that’s eons away from Earth Technologies. The first launch has already gone up containing a super “Squid”that has been sent to the asteroid to begin a colony to stabilize the object for the pioneers arrival. The three of them blast of into space before the government can shut down their crazy project which has been ridiculed from the start by most of the science fraternity as they journey across space to the dark and daunting object. As they reach the destination something glistens in the dark blue of space as the squid have reproduced some how and started a colony that habits a significant proportion of the ghostly rock gliding through space. When they finally land and explore theres something far more daunting and mysterious that could change the whole history of the universe and the whole meaning of being. The squid element in the story is a little strange I must admit, but the rest of the story will blow your mind as its beautifully written with a lot of intellectual fact that makes you think about our exsistence, how we got here and where will we end up.Especially the marble in a box theory pointing at a sudden mass increase and then crash of the worlds population and the death of the planet. Absolutely brilliant read for a warm spring day in the park watching the girls go by for the thinkers amongst you
