My daughter, Erin, who attends a rural primary school with a school role of only 43 is now 10 and in primary 6 and has always struggled with her reading and spelling. Right from primary 1 she just didn't seem to be able to retain simple everyday words that most children learn to read just by sight rather than sounding the word out.
