My daughter, Erin, who attends a rural primary school with a school role of only 43 is now 10 and in primary 6 and has always struggled with her reading and spelling. Right from primary 1 she just didn't seem to be able to retain simple everyday words that most children learn to read just by sight rather than sounding the word out. Having said that being at such a small school she has always been very lucky to have received a lot of help and support and as much one to one as the teachers can possibly give.
