Advantages: Just read it, and you'll know what I mean

Disadvantages: It's quite long, equivalent to 3 paperbacks

This is truly a classic. Tolkien wrote this book during the 1940-50s.

It's sometimes sold as a trilogy but is best read as one. Lord of the Rings continues from the Hobbit. The ring found by Bilbo turned out to be the one ring which belongs to the evil Sauron. This book tells of the tale of hobbits, drawf, elves, wizards and men who set out to destroy the ring and it's maker, Sauron.

Tolkien started the craze on fantasy with his books. He managed to create a completely new world, with it's own history, language and people. His work is truly the origin of fantasy.
