ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Tom Clancy was born in 1947and was an insurance broker. He published his first novel, The Hunt for Red October in 1984 and shot to the Bestseller list. A number of his books, The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears have all been made into Movies.
BACKGROUND ON THE BOOK:
This is the second book from Tom Clancy in regards to the OP-CENTRE stories. NOTE: These are not Jack Ryan stories, but a completely different set of stories which Tom Clancy cowrites.
OP Centre is a new centre for crisis management run by Director Paul Hood. Whenever a job is too dangerous for other intel centres, then this is where the government turns to. OP-CENTRE is basically a simular agency to CIA and FBI combined, with Intel Officers and a Military Wing with Soldiers and top of the range equipment. The stories run very much with two focuses, a human element about the staff of OP-CENTRE and their personal troubles (like the Director Hood with his wife and son) and the various problems around the world.

MAIN CHARACTERS IN BOOK:

ABOUT THE BOOK:
This book is set shortly after the cold was has finished and the new Russian President is trying to start up a new democratic regime. He however has a number of people trying to stop him, including the Russian Mafia and right wing nationalists.
MIrror Image is the Russian counterpart to OP-CENTRE. The Russian extremists take control of Mirror Image to use for their purposes to overthrow the Russian Premier.
Paul Hood and his staff must stop these extremists before they execute their plan and return the world to the cold war.
MY OPINION:
I thought this book was OK and if you are bored then do read it. The stories can be interesting, but in parts get quite slow and is definetely not a book that really grips you. I am a massive Tom Clancy fan, but these books really did not inspire me to purchase them.
Some of the people relations in the book are good and I think that this was my favourite of the first 4 OP CENTRE books for certain.
I would recommend that if you have not read any OP CENTRE books yet and you want to try them out, then purchase the first OP CENTRE book and read them in order.
As per usual, all of the books do follow on from each other, and if you miss a book or come in half way then you will not get the full benefit of what has happened before.
Summary: Ok Book
