Advantages: good basis for a story, very original

Disadvantages: Very slow, and i had to watch the film to understand the book

This review will have to be based slightly more on the film aspect because i found the book was hard-going in most places, not recommended for people with absolutely no imagination. The book jumps from one character to another, until near to the end when all becomes a little clearer, although it is good for a writer to pay so much detail to most of the characters involved however, this was not such a good idea as it dragged the story out for too long.

Ok, the jist of this story is that a woman uncovers some remains in the woods by her house, her drunkard boyfriend (a Lecturer)comes home to stay with her.

Soon the green glow takes over the town, and makes people disappear into a spaceship. Soon the entire town is under the spell of the creatures from under the ground, who are in fact aliens that crashed there many years previously.

This, i feel, is not the best from Stephen King, definately a book for the ardent fan or collector. I would recommend the film version to accompany the book, but the film itself is approx 115 minutes, it feels somewhat longer, although it is a bearable film . I just wish it was written differently, even though the characters were a big part of this story, Mr King should have thought about a different approach to the first half of the book.

Summary: Average low budget film, Poor book considering the talent who wrote it, overall good plot
