This is another great novel by Stephen King which incorporates some science fiction with the horror. Bobbie Anderson stumbles across a strange object sticking out of the ground in the woods behind her house. The object has a strange feel to it and Bobby (followed by the rest of the town) feels drawn to it and she begins to dig it up. It obsesses them all. Her friend, Jim Gardener, senses that something is wrong. As Bobby and Gardener dig up the strange object strange things start happening in the town, people get headaches and lose teeth and they are able to make incredible devices to do any job that needs doing. The thing does not affect Gardener because he has a metal plate in his head. He realises he has to do something but the whole town is against him.....

If you like horror stories, you will love this book.
