Tootle is a young train with big hopes and dreams. He hopes to become the glamorous Flyer on the New York to Chicago route, but first he must master the lessons at school. These are pretty basic things no train should not master: staying on the rails no matter what, stopping at red signals, and how to pull a dining car so smooth that he won't even spill soup. But Tootle has a problem. he likes to daydream, and becomes enticed by the flowers in the meadow along his training track.
