Advantages: Lots of really good recipes. Beautiful photography and graphics.
Disadvantages: None unless you don't like salad.
It's been a scorcher this week and to get in the swing of things I have dug out one of my favourite recipe books, and probably the only salad book I'll ever need.
I know what you're going to say - Why on earth do you need a salad book? Surely it's a case of chopping up some salad ingredients and dressing with olive oil, a bit of balsamic and Bob's your uncle..... wrong, wrong, wrong.
This book contains some amazing new healthy recipes also and some more classic dishes, it has pasta and rice salads, zesty dressings and even a whole section on warm salads for the chillier months.
The book RRP's at £12.99 although I have seen it for half this price on
amazon. It has the most beautiful photography and graphics and is well laid out with easy to follow instructions.
One of the things I like about this book is that it is so versatile, no matter
what mood my tastebuds are in I'll find something that will fit the bill.
It has many classic dishes such as Chicken Caesar, Tabbouleh and Greek Salad, salads with a touch of the orient such as Soba Noodle salad with Tahini dressing, meaty and fishy offerings such as Chilli Chicken and Cashew salad and Scallop, Ginger and Spinach salad and lighter fruity salads like Green Papaya salad.
In fact, there are over 200 recipes in the book's 400 pages. I've tried many
but still have lots of use to get out of the book. The titles of the recipes
are quite basic (what's in it...) but I've often found the ones I thought
sounded a bit dull have been the best, for example morrocan carrot salad with olives and mint is a knockout. It has a dressing with harissa and
cumin/coriander seeds - yum.
Most of the recipes are extremely easy but there a few more complex if you'd like. Spanish-style seafood salad for example.
The book is published by Murdoch books and the ISBN is 1-74045-449-9
Summary: A new salad every day for the rest of the summer.
