Advantages: bright pictures
Disadvantages: too long winded, deosn't hold interest
Traffic Jamboree is another library book that my son picked out on our monthly visit.
This is a board book with touchy feely sections on each page.
I do think he was initially attracted to the bears having a soft furry tummy on the front cover.
As you open the first page you see the words "who is stuck in the traffic jam" and a picture of ten horses on a bus and each of their manes is made of brown fur. You can also see on this page the back of a fire engine which is featured on the next page with nine monkeys with sticky bananas. Each until you reach the front of the traffic jam page shows a different vehicle and animal until you reach the final page where there is a fold down flap which explains what is causing the traffic jam. It is a chick crossing the road on a zebra crossing.
The pictures are large bright and colourful but unfortunately I don't think there is enough variety in the textures as the majority are fur.
The text does seem to flow well and does have sounds in the each sentence which explain the sounds each vehicle makes. The writing is spirally and I personally prefer bold text so that words and letters are more recognisable.
It does ask you to count the animals on each page which is helpful as my son knows a few numbers but doesn't seem to have any idea of the order however my son does loose interest if we count every single page.
This book does not grip my son's imagination and I find it quite dull to read. I tend to make up my own words to make the story more interesting.
This book seems like a good concept but sadly isn't greatly done.
If you are still interested in this book it is currently available on Amazon for £9.99 on the seller's market place.
ISBN. No 978-0333965733
I won't be recommending this book and will certainly not be renewing this book. There are much better books out there.
Summary: Leave it on the bookshelf
