Newest Review: ... a third of the way through the main story has been firmly established, as Spider takes on the psychotic, corrupt president of the USA. A lot of the series is blackly comic in an incredibly over-the-top way. If you don't find swearing, violence and deviant sex acts funny then this is probably not for you (although DC is a mainstream publisher, so you won't find anything *too* extreme). But it ... more

Transmetropolitan is a comic book series that ran for 60 issues between 1997 and 2002. It was written by Warren Ellis and drawn by Darick Robertson. It's been reprinted in 9 volumes; if you buy it from amazon it'll set you back about £65 for the lot (although obviously you wouldn't have to buy them all at once). Premium Review I Hate It Here! (456 words)

Transmetropolitan was conceived by master comic scribe Warren Ellis and is generally illustrated by the unique artistic hand of Darrick Robertson. ...  Read the complete review

Spider Jerusalem is a journalist with a problem. He hates the City, but it's the only place he can write. So, down he comes from the mountain, spitting bile and frothing hatred at all targets. This stunning series by Warren Ellis is electrifying, full of passion, anger, hatred, bile and, though this seems strange, and optimism that is hard to place. Set in the near future (next hundred years or so), this series spins wonderfully between set piece one-offs that explain portions of the future (the history enclaves, the foglets, genetic engineering, religions and tv) and greater, ongoing storylines, mostly about politics.
