Advantages: Quick read
Disadvantages: Paper-thin story, felt rushed together, over in 10 minutes.
Now I'm a massive Dean Koontz fan but unfortunately I couldn't recommend this to anyone but the most fanatical of Koontz fans. He often writes about genetically modified animals and such but this time it's a hoard of rats and it's also a very paper thin story. Maybe he thought that he could whip up a quick story without much effort and let the artist do most of the story telling. One of Koontz's greatest qualities is his ability to create deep and engaging characters but unfortunately we don't get that benefit here, maybe because the descriptive has been abandoned and replaced by pictures.
For the price it's far too quick a read and only for the Koontz completist like me. The only good thing from my point of view is that I've added it to my collection and that's it. So, if you're a Koontz nut, buy it, read it in ten minutes, put it back in it's cellophane and in your Koontz cabinet and look out for the next, hopefully decent story from the master writer. If you're a graphic novel fan or you've never read Koontz then I'd certainly give this one a miss, he's got far better novels for you to get your teeth into.
Summary: Only for the very ardent Koontz fan or completist..
