Berlitz Guides in general:
... I now have a collection of them on my bookshelf. They are packed with current info as well as historical information about the country.There is a handy map inside the cover which can be useful.It gives very good tips on how to get the best of your trip and the best places to see also I like how it is written in very easy language to follow and it just gets straight to the point with no waffle. The Rough Guide to Brazil - Dilwyn Jenkins ... with me because a friend of mine had it and it was 5 of us, so that we shared the burden of carrying to 2 books. From a travel guide I ask primarily tips on restaurants and accomodation, in this respect the lonely Planet was better. However, I found that the Rough Guide was covering the cities we were visiting from a different angle and it was informative in terms of museums and places to visit. Where I found it superior to the Lonely Planet, is actually in the coverage of Rio de Janeiro, there is a good section on some of the interesting areas to visit in Rio, which gave us inspiration for one day of exploring of the city. Long Way Down - Ewan McGregor ... form" than "TV form." In the series they came across as a bit grumpy and ungrateful at the beginning of the journey. The book explains the tension at the time and it is more easy to feel sympathy for their felings. The change between the beginning of the journey, where they were rushing in order to make charity visits and ferry crossings in time and the later, more relaxed travelling is more marked in the book. I enjoyed learning a little more about the charity visits, and how Ewan and Charley felt about them. They visited several projects along the way, and were constantly amazed by the feeling of hope in the hospices, schools, clinics and war-tor...
