Notes from a Small Island - Bill Bryson ... for a Small Island is a travel book in which comic travel writer Bill Bryson travels around the UK. Although Bryson is American he has lived in the UK before, so it s an interesting book in which Bryson is only quasi traveler. Well I have read a bunch of Bryson s books and I have to say this is probably the funniest. I never know quite whether or not to believe the stories he tells, but either way this is a really funny book, The mix-ups he gets into, the bizarre people he meets- it s a laugh a minute. As a British reader I found it doubley funny to see how Bryson perceived our own country-men, and to be honest he is dead on. We really are a bizarre bunch, and the... Notes from a Small Island - Bill Bryson ... possibly one of the funniest travel books ever written, namely because every word Bryson writes is exactly on-point - usually embarrassingly so! Having lived in Britain for around 2 decades, Bryson is about to return to his native United States, but not before travelling the length and breadth of the United Kingdom...by public transport.
