Lonely Planet in general:
... Lonely Plant guide books are aptly nick named the traveller s bible . It is the most widely used complete guide book collection in the world. The format is the same in all books so once you have used one, it is simple to use another. The books seem to be just the right size and contain a good amount of information for travellers such as how to get there, accommodation and history. Personally I don t use the hi... Lonely Planet Phrasebooks ... Planet books are always very well laid out, simple and to the point. The guide books are no different. I used one for Indonesia and it really helped me get started. The only way to really learn the language is to speak it with locals, you soon learn that phrases like how to catch the bus or speak to a chemist are not exactly how the locals say it, but the book certainly steers you in the right direction. After a few months in Indonesia I wasn t using the phrases in the book, but rather condensed parts of them and minor differences I picked up along the way from speaking with locals. Indonesian is a particuarly easy language to learn and speak, the words are pronou... Read the full review: Well laid out phrasebooks by mmayer99 |

Southeast Asia on a Shoestring - China Williams ... of backpackers leave England and Europe each year after University or just for some time out. Many head for South East Asia and this is their bible. I have used this book on a few trips and it is invaluble, in countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, there are regular sightings of tourits carrying this book. Of course there are things left out, when a hotel gets in this guide book it is almost guaranteed to do very well for many years i... Last Chance to See - Mark Carwardine ... 1989, writer Douglas Adams and zoologist Mark Cawardine embarked on a 90,000 mile journey to see some of the most endangered and charismatic animals on the planet. Their epic travels resulted in a ground breaking BBC radio series and accompanying book called "Last chance to see". Twenty years later, Cawardine and the BBC decided to revisit some of the original animals to see how they had fared in the two decades since the original series, as well as looking for more animals on the brink . Due to his untimely death in 2001, a successor for Adams was needed. Comedian Stephen Fry, a long term friend of Adams, and a contributor to the original series was drafte...
