Brilliant book if you are still new to water colours or want to improve your techniques of using water colours for trees, water and rocks. It's a watercolour course in a book!

The book goes through all the seasons of the year, the fresh look of spring, warmth of the summer, superb colours of the autumn and the harsh winter snow.

The book starts with a small section on materials and equipment but addresses colours within each section which for me, makes it different to other books. It allows you to test colours you are going to use at the right place within the books i.e. as you are going to use them.

I particuarly like this book, as it not only shows you how to paint trees and rocks etc. it also shows you how colours and moods change the look of your painting. Every page has a hint or tip at the top e.g. to paint water that looks real, the secret is to use the minimum number of brush strokes. This type of tip is invaluable and having tried the tips alone, I can tell you they work.

The book also gives you some basic guides e.g. painting water:
Brush strokes should follow the flow
Shadows should be painted horizontal
Reflections should be painted vertical

The book contains so many of these. They really help and make a huge difference. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to paint better pictures. Well worth the price.
