Premium Review How the boy became a legend (758 words)

Rating:

him and therefore are simply someone else s interpretation of the characters he created. Peter and the Starcatchers is the prequel to Peter Pan and was written by Dave Barry (I know the name is uncanny) and Ridley Pearson. The inspiration for the novel came from Pearson s daughter Paige who one night asked her daddy exactly how the flying boy had met Captain Hook. As you can imagine therefore this novel deals with just that and explains exactly how Peter came to be the boy that never grows up and how and where he met the infamous Captain Hook. Peter is an orphan who has spent most of his life in a rotten orphanage with strict teachers and even stricter discipline. We ...

Big Trouble - Dave Barry

Premium Review I Want Your Sex-Pootie! (473 words)
by MykReeve - written on 27/11/00 (Very useful, 150 readings)
Rating:

My only problem with the book is that it takes so little time to read – it's under 250 pages long, and has quite big print! It's also worth mentioning that there is a little bad language in there, so, as Barry points out in the foreword, the book isn't intended for as wide an audience as his non-fiction works. Here's hoping for another fiction work from Dave as soon as possible! ...

Big Trouble - Dave Barry

Premium Review Watch The Toad (436 words)
by Terry Mcintyre - written on 20/03/01 (Very useful, 41 readings)
Rating:

Crime and comedy are two things that you don’t see lumped together that often. A mix of the two often results in one taking precedence over the other. Unfortunately for Dave Barry’s Big Trouble they seem to cancel each other out. Its too funny to be really thrilling and to make you care about the characters or the plot but there is too much crime to make it an out-and-out comedy. Confused? Well I’m sorry. The story is basically a collision of lives and events in Coconut Grove, Florida. First we have the Herk family, demented stepfather Arthur, wife Anna and daughter Jenny. Two hitmen try to kill Arthur but that coincides with Matt Arnold trying to ...
