Terry Pratchett isn't my normal choice of author but when it was all my other half had sitting on his shelf i decided to give it a try.

Truckers is the First Book in a series about Nomes .I picked this one because there are plans to bring out a movie off it next year .The nomes are little people (sort of like borrowers) who have came from another planet.At the beginning of the book they are fed up as numbers are dropping due to the fact they live outside and other animals are eating them or if they survive that nature is having a negative impact on their numbers.
They decide to move indoors and with a spot of luck they somehow manage to find other nomes living in a store(isn't that a surprise)
Things are going well in the store until their little black box (high tech computer?) starts talking and tells them that the store is going to be closing down for good.Thats when they decide they have to leave and find somewhere else to live....how hard can it be to drive a truck?.
There are several main characters in this book including Masklin-the unofficial leader.
Grimma-too smart for her own good apparently.
Granny Morkie-things were a lot worse in her day.The characters come across as very human like.

I loved this book some bits are really funny .The nomes in the store are quite good instead of having seasons they have the year split into different sales periods and they beleive the store founder is like a god and the store was built for them.

Summary: great book
