Advantages: HIS TUMOUR HORROR
Disadvantages: FAMILY DRIVEL
TRUE is the title of singer turned actor Martin kemp's autobiography.
The most fascinating part of this book is when Kemp reveals he had a tumour. The devastation he felt when he realised he could die is heartbreaking, though his positivity in staying focused and battling meant he always thought he could survive. I love to read inspirational stories and this is one of them as surviving a severe illness leaves others with hope they can do the same.
Kemp reveals how he got into the band Spandeau Ballet along with his brother and the other night fame that came with it. Kemp admits that though it was great to be doing something he loved the fame that came with it was stressful. The honesty from Kem is refreshing as he then goes on to explain how the tensions in the band would often run high. he says that while performing was great the other stuff that went on with being in a band could get tensions rising. KEMP says he was proud of the band's success during the eighties and their hits like Gold are still classics today.
He then goes on to highlight his acting success first playing the Kray twins with his brother in a movie and then joining Eastenders for a few years as the resident bad guy. It was good reading what happened on the set of Estenders and the fun Kemp had being in a national institution. While Kemp admits he was lucky getting in to acting he never says that he was a great actor whic was nice to read.
Kemp talks abut his family and his love for them which I always find tedious in novels. Nonetheless, this is a good book considering I thought Kemp was arrogant before reading. He comes across as a down to earth man who never let success go to his head. The book is easy to follow altohugh there are some farly dour parts along the way.
Avaliabe from AMAZON at just under a pound this is a fair read.
Summary: KEMP COMES ACROSS WELL

- 11/09/09 Interesting read. I liked Martin Kemp's acting. Didn't realize though, he was part of a band at one time. |
