This is volume one of a collection of real life stories, originally published in 1977, whereby people have put their greatest efforts into escaping what they regarded as unbearable situations. I received a free copy of this book after doing some work for the Reader's Digest and it has turned out to be one of the most enjoyable books that I have ever read. The book is made up of twenty six short stories detailing miraculous escapes, written from a first person perspective. At times, it can be quite overwhelming to realize what people are capable of and the forces behind their motivation.
