I'm a great fan of John Irving's work, but I though the stories contained herein were a little weak compared with his novels, with the exception of The Pension Grillparzer - a true masterpiece. Unfortunately this story also appears in the World According to Garp, which I would imagine anybody considering buying this book already owns (and if they don't, they should).
