Advantages: Pure escapism.

Disadvantages: Can't put it down

I started reading this book properly today and found it hard to stop... hours went by and before I knew it, I was over half-way through. I've had to make a huge effort to stop and save more of this book to read later.

It really is a wonderful novel. I did not think a vampire story in a modern-day setting in the USA would appeal to me. I usually prefer my vampires to live in Victorian England or Transylvania. There is something so compelling, however, about Bella and Edward. Their subtly-growing attraction to each other is described so exquisitely that Bella's thoughts and impressions are palpable. It is her shy, self-deprecating voice that narrates the story.

It is easy to see why Twilight is so popular; and I haven't even finished reading the book yet. It is beautiful and exciting both as a love story and as a vampire story. Every page draws you further in to the darkly-stunning, mysterious and turbulent world of Bella and Edward's love.

It's the kind of story one might read again after a year or so, just to go back into that heart-stopping, dizzying world of love and suspense.

Summary: Wonderful.
