Petra Connor, a Detective Sergeant in a US city, isn’t too impressed when she gets landed with genius Isaac Gomez, an intern working for the police department while doing a PhD for fun. She has a slew of cases to work on, including a drive-by shooting that killed four young people, one of whom can’t be identified. Isaac’s idea that there is a connection between murders of very different people all murdered on or around midnight on June 28 for several years in a row is initially pooh-poohed. I am a big fan of Kellerman's psychological thrillers which feature his main recurring characters psychologist Alex Delaware and cop Milo Sturgis I have also enjoyed his departures from these two characters, 'The Butcher's Theatre', 'Conspiracy Club' and the aforementioned 'Billy Straight' and as Delaware and Sturgis hurtle towards senior citizen status it may be the case that Delaware needs new characters. Petra Connor may well be the character that Kellerman is looking to, to fill this ...
